What Can a 1000Wh Power Station Run?

A 1000Wh power station is the most popular size for emergencies and camping, big enough to be genuinely useful, small enough to carry. Here is exactly what it can run, for how long, and the one-line formula so you can work out any device yourself.

The only formula you need

Run-time (hours) = usable watt-hours ÷ device watts.

A 1000Wh station does not give you a full 1,000 usable watt-hours, because the inverter loses some energy turning battery DC into AC. Plan on about 850 usable watt-hours. So a 50W device runs roughly 850 ÷ 50 = 17 hours. That is the whole trick.
